because-I'm proud to say-i went to listen to dr tan's MTA class's CL piece, the Mozart one! I listened to it till the end so therefore didn't have enough time(well, I thought the duration of the test is much longer-.-),because i love Amadeus :).And I told mr S about this today to diminish my own guilt and he exclaimed "but why??" and i said "because i couldn't resist!" and he cackled so loudly...hahahhahahhahahahahaha
Well, I'm determined to improve!
VERY DETERMINED.
AND COMPOSITION NEXT YEAR. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!
need to make some preparation work in the holidays.hmmph.must ace for music!!!!!!!(look at how this spirit contradicts the math spirit)
Got back report book.
Overall is.....
74.2%.
quite low compared to my class.
=(
p.s chinese is awesome XD just saying

So..today, 04/11/2011, is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a bittersweet day....
It's been a great year in general..many opportunies, great overseas trips to both Aberdeen and Yunnan(if only i went to the HK music trip too..), great friends, happy school days, productive lessons, awesome one to one tuition and self-study..learned the viola...combined chamber with the percussion seniors for fabulous art fest performances..striving to perfect and memorize Headtalk piece in 2 weeks..attending great concerts..
MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE GREATEST GOAL I'VE EVER ACHIEVED THIS YEAR, IS
COMPOSITION.
I only started out composing this year, which is kinda late, and to me, it first started out as a hobby and merely just a topic of interest, which I thought might not last because of the tight schedule I have. However, as i compose, i found immense joy and decided to dedicate my whole self to composing, and sometimes neglecting my studies. Joined a composer's forum site on the net and had so many chances of learning from these composers and gaining musical tips from them. There are also many opportunities in school this year for me to compose. For e.g, our Media Ed film =) (or Lesley's Film-picked by the media ed teachers YAY congratz everyone :D )Composed the film soundtrack with Deborah :) And Deborah's birthday- arranged a happy birthday piece for her :D And, composed a farewell piece for ms Diana when she left SOTA. Composed a piece for Natalie who's in melbourne, but halfway through. Oh, and another background piece for our IHSS camp video:D(that attained a very high mark woohoo!!) OHYA, and arranged a "Cinema Paradiso" for our string quintet performance at fuchun..Up till now, I have 8 pieces composed, and they are
From a Feast
Happy Swing
Gliding Flow
For Deborah
For Diana
For Natalie(not complete, because I lost the sibelius software score!!!:( so only front part)
Sentosa's Story(IHSS camp video background music)
Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra, "Inferno"(my best work so far).
Weird and silly titles yeah i know
but I must really thank the sch for the indirect opportunity for me to compose and contribute to my group. I really really love to compose, especially to compose pieces for certain people and present to them as little gifts =)
p.s there's also a piece for lerler, which I'm composing halfway at the moment!
Next year, we'll get to do composition in sch! And hopefully, my compositions can get performed ^^ HOPEFULLY.
Would like to thank Mr Dirk Stromberg for being the best music teacher(and unbiased) ever, being funny in classes(although sarcastic at times) and giving great music advices. Thanks for giving awesome suggestions for the "Cinema Paradiso" arrangement, and thanks for making MTA/CL lessons interesting, equipping us with great knowledge and constantly encouraging us to do better. Thanks for consoling me when I didn't get shortlisted for scholarship(my leadership section was BLANK :() and I'm really grateful to have a teacher like you :) Was hoping that you could teach me next year again, but since you don't teach yr 3s, ohwells...
:)
For IS, THANKS QU LAO SHI FOR BEING SO NICE!!!!!!!!and seldom scold me..HAHAHA. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wo ai ni!!!!!!omg
For Chamber, THANK YOU MR QUEK for being so...hilarious during lessons!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to the academic part, I'm also glad I've improved and did reasonably well in EOYs. The subject that I've improved most is..Literature. From my term one exam- 12/25 to my EOY exam-35/40. Really really glad, and I want to thank Miss Melissa for never giving up on me when I failed lit in term 1, and kept encouraging me and providing opportunities for me to speak in class, as well as being such a fabulous great funny cute teacher who never failed to be boring(hehe) and always teaching lessons in an interesting and fun manner :) Thank you!
For math, i admit that my attitude has become less positive. I don't know why. I sort of gave up on math long ago. Especially this year. Just didn't have the mind to do it....or maybe spent too much time on other stuff. I think I really made Mrs Sin disappointed, and it's entirely my fault for not dedicating myself wholly to Math. Sorry Mrs Sin...you're a great teacher and the best math teacher I've ever had, and really sorry for not being able to score well(as in 80 plus) for math like I used to in the past 2 years. I'll try to like math and improve it next year.
OKAY. I WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but am still glad i improved 10 marks in EOY exam. but still very lousy..
For Sciences, thanks Ms Aida for being the BEST CHEM TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!omg under your guidance I have improved so much, and chem is my best subject on the report card, followed by chinese, followed by.....haiya lazy to look. Anyway, yeap thanks for being so clear in lessons :D And Mrs Sara, you're really nice and friendly to us bio students!!I love your teaching experiences and how you incorporate them in our learning process. So thank you for being so dedicated to teaching us, putting up lots of worksheets for us to do, and advising us on our pre-exam preparations =)
For IHSS, we kept changing teachers...so thank all!!!And Ms Ong Xin Yi, thanks for teaching us IHSS! :) I love how you give instructions..super clear and concise!!!! hahahahaha. Hope you'll give birth to a healthy lovely baby and have a good time with your family ^^
For PE...HAAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA. Badminton!!!my favourite! and Netball...thanks Ms Koh and Mr Ong and Mr Tan for being the best pe teachers ever, allowing us to have a fantastic time chasing after balls and shuttlecocks..^^ if only we had more PE time, instead of only 2 periods per week!!that's too deprived!!!
For Chinese..well....THANK YOU LEE LAO SHI!!!!!!YOU'RE THA BEST CHINESE TEACHER EVER :D All the way from yr 2....thanks for improving our chinese, teaching us lots of chinese literary devices....and I'm SUPER EXCITED for the taiwan immersion trip to DECEMBER! thanks for giving us(some of us) the opportunity to attend the RGS chinese camp. I learned so much and was really inspired by the lessons and students(scary) there :D
I wannna get 90+ for chinese next year. Seriously. Since deborah topped math(91.1), and it's 90+, i figure out that it's better to get 90+ for my fav subject, which is Chinese! The other subjects are impossible for me to get 90+..LOL...no more 80+ for chinese~!!!!!urgh..Lots to improve! Thanks laoshi! See you next year again, hopefully (:
For ARC...well, thanks mr lau for being the most quiet ARC teacher in class...hahahahhaha quote from SOMEONE on mr lau-"come in with the same face, leave class with the same face " HAHAHAHAHHA. Thanks for helping us "think outside the box" and breaking down cheem arc questions..really productive! thanks for improving my ARC for my EOY exam <3 i finally got my goal of getting over 30+. Well, just got 30/40 for last yr EOY. but not good enough...so this year i'm really glad to have improved!
Overall, all the subject teachers have played a big important role in shaping my academic learning process! Thanks to all of you :D
Lastly, I would like to thank my class, O1.
It's the best class anyone could ask for.
Great teammates, great friends, great year mentors, great epic discussion in class..
Thanks to each one of you for being awesome ^^ and special in your own ways!
You guys are actually my role models since you're all so awesome in academics and they set a benchmark for me to follow and achieve beyond my limits!
Special thanks to my classmates: Isabelle and Deborah, for teaching me lotta stuff!!!And my deskmate Clancy for being so....HAHAHAHA....so nice :D and outspoken in class and because of your braveness to raise questions and points in class(unlike me), I've actually learned alot from your questions and the teacher/students' answers!!!!THANK YOU! especially for lit!!!!hahaha
O1 is HECKYEAH THE MOST FABULOUS CLASS EVER. R7'09 too. :)
You guys are so supportive of each other!!!!:)
Great team spirit! O1 ALL THE WAY!!!hope I'll still be in the same class as you guys LOL.
---------------------------------------------------------
GREAT QUOTE TO END THE YEAR: LIVE WITH PASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!thanks ms koh, our fantastic year mentor :D
Kinda sad that the Yr 6s 2012 are graduating next year..I'll definitely miss some of them.:( :( :(. Sighh. All of us will leave someday.
For SABRINA LIM CHEN YUE:
Sabrina,
The girl who adores kitties. The girl who has the most distinct slurred(yes, slurred) giggles. The girl who painstakingly patiently taught me(for more than 5 mins) the tricky rhythmic part in Headtalk. The girl whom I've met right from the beginning in Year One all the way to Year three. The girl whom I worked with for our first chinese project in year 2. The girl who I've spend theory classes with. The girl whom I went Yunnan with. The girl who always show me Beethoven-related stuff when they are present. The girl who first called me MRS BEETHOVEN <3. The girl who came up with the nickname "SQUISHY" for PingQi in Year One.
Without you, pingqi's nickname will not be SQUISHY. Without you, there will be no other girl with such a distinct hilarious laughter. Without you, I wouldn't have mastered that rhythmic part in Headtalk that fast. Without you, there will be one less funny cute friend and classmate.
One of the biggest regrets is, I wish I have known you better.
Well, I hope you will enjoy Canada.
All the best to your future endeavors, and never forget R7'09, G7'10 and O1'11!!!
We'll always love and miss you <3
Byebye :(
NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU T^T
