Haven't been posting in a while..Having a tight schedule due to the influx of artsfest rehearsals.
I love July 14. And i love my chamber because it's so fabulous! After working with them for tons and tons of rehearsals I think I've known them more as individuals, and grown alittle closer to each and everyone of them. From strangers to acquaintances. And to friends.
It's been an enjoyable time working with my fellow members, including the percussion seniors and the lovely dancers as it's our first time working together with them :) Had so much fun trying out their instruments and jamming together with them unknowingly, (also providing awesome accompaniment for Gillian's piece muahaha) and teaching some of them how to identify the c major scale on yangqin. :D Although on one occasion i have to keep playing my solo piece for 4 times so that the dancers can get into the momentum, it was actually worth it because the results are fruitful. I love rehearsals where someone would randomly play a melody on his/her instrument, and we all start to get along by playing the melody on our own instruments too, having so much fun and laughter in the process.
July 14 is the big day, and it's the grandest series of performances I've ever seen! Starting with the tribal sensational Head Talk, to the wonderful Gillyu's duet(HAHAH), to my solo, to the funny three percussion boys and finally to our Sha Wei, the audience was fabulous. Their cheers and claps were the best reward any performers would get. This is actually the first time that we the chinese ensemble get to have a series of performances for our own recital. =)
p.s I kinda love showering in school. They have hot water too! And wrapping the towels around our heads just for the sheer joy of it. And having mr quek putting the plastic bag over my head while i was playing yangqin. :D
Following the fantastic 夜 performance was the....Official Opening of SOTA!
Rehearsals were long and mostly on a full-day basis, but it was really amazing because in the process we got to talk about funny things with each other! My favourite times were the lunchtimes where Miss Erin, Gillian, Yulin, Pingyu and I would get together and go out for food. It was so humorous omg I want to relive those times again. :) The boys...they went for LAN, ofcourse.
We went for the opening ceremony preview and it was fabulous!!!everyone did a great job!!It's my first time seeing the gratifying fusion of ALL the artsforms together, showing the unity formed! Semoga Bahagia indeed!!!!! :D and krish and YT did a great job juggling the balls. HEH, in a concert hall? on the stage? We don't see that often. :P
On the big day, we had to perform for 4 times because it's supposed to be a looped performance! So what if the
ooh-it's-the PM didn't see us? So what if it unexpectedly rained at the steps and we all had to squeeze together at the last minute to perform under the shelter? Atleast the public loved it. Atleast we loved it and had fun during the music-making. :) I love Ramayana too! Great job to Darryl and his crew =)
But another good thing that happened is after we performed, we get to ENJOY THE REFRESHMENTS in the hall! Free dinner! Too bad PingYu went home first :(
My mum came for the opening ceremony and we ate together with Isabelle and Debs! LOL, my mum finds them cute and 懂事 LOL.
But what troubled me is how the nice black plate must be thrown away after the reception. :( So I went to wash my plate and my forks/spoons with lotsa soap and tada brought it home :D
On a final note, I would like to say a big thank you to the people below for being such great supporters and advisors and motivations during the tedious rehearsals!
