The One And Only Koh Cheng Jin.
HELLO i am
Koh Cheng Jin. I am currently turning 15 this year. I am a girl, from
SOTA's MUSIC FACULTY :D and
SNYO's V2/V1.I love God and Life, and friends are very important to me. I love Beethoven and Plum blossom too. Plum blossom thrives in winter, and I admire their endurance, like those of Beethoven's. :)
Current favourite composers:
Mozart: Music that allows my soul to wander around, (joyful music) always never fail to put make me happy, (dark music) never fail to make me ponder about Mozart's other character which is not commonly seen.
Beethoven: Music that allows me to know him better, and to see how music is the best form of expression that should be hold in high reverence.
Tchaikovsky: Music that allows me to realise that...life= music, and romantic music are not always mushy like korean dramas' music. It can be dark too.
Bach: Music that (similar to Mozart) allows me to experience a roller-coaster ride and being in a forest with polyphonic animal/nature sounds.

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. ~Author Unknown

URGH.
GAH.
WA MEN TI, WA MEN TI!!!!!!
SHUCKS.
I HATE TO BE IN A DILEMMA.
I mean both are good opportunities for me to hone my skills
But which one should I go(or Which seat shall I take!! It's Fry--ok this is serious I shall stop joking around)?????????????????
It's not by chance one gets selected for such good programs...and I know such opportunity is hard to come by. Furthermore, I prepared and invested so much effort in both of them(without knowing that their dates crash together) and now....this is what I get. A dilemma. It is like choosing between pink and red apples. Both of them are different physically but as a matter of fact they taste the same. They both taste delicious. They both taste good. And nice.

How???
For Hong Kong Chinese Music Camp, both Bennett and I got selected. I remembered that for the recording preparation, I stayed back in school for so long just to get a nice proper less-mistakes recording of Lin Chong Ye Ben(My yangqin audition piece). I recorded more than 20 times of it and I failed so many times. Finally for the 20+th plus time(i forgot the actual number of times) I decided to chose the last one because it's the best out of all the recordings. It was such a tedious effort! The CO Music camp would be a learning platform for me, and a chance to participate in a large-scale chinese orchestra that is encompassed of international musicians. I will be able to learn so much from them! I haven't played in a chinese orchestra since I was Primary 3. (Yangqin is provided there too!) And today when Miss Yang messaged me about me getting selected for this camp, I was so happy until I saw the dates. Such palpable letters and numbers! 31 July to 7 Aug. My heart crashed at the instant. Later you'll know why. Or perhaps you already do.
Similarly, I expended a great amount of energy and time for the SNYO tour to UK. From being in the reserve list for the tour, I started to climb my way forward. I had no idea why I was put in the reserve list at all. Maybe it's because I haven't been to YO for quite a long while already. So, I started practising the parts. For the July 10 concert alone, I have to prepare three pieces for the coming audition in June. Then I went for the audition without expecting much in return, because well I thought that since I'm back on the reserve list I wouldn't make such a comeback after all. And the more you hope, the greater disappointment there will me. But then the director(upon hearing my audition) told me he would consider placing me in the main list for tour, I can see doors opening for me. SNYO goes for tour around every 3 years and this year they are going to UK. I have been in SNYO for almost 3 years already and this is a golden opportunity for me to be exposed to other international orchestras Aberdeen Youth Festival, and even better, I get to explore my dad's university too! With a new perspective, I began mugging my way through the next three pieces for the tour. And when results of the second audition arrived, I was so elated because I got selected!! It's not common for a reserve to bounce back into the main list. And then I was told that I'm being shifted to first violins for the tour.
The tour is from 29 July to 8 Aug!!
Now you know why.

It is like somebody asking you "Hey if your wife and your mother fall into the river, which one would you save first?"
Help!

Enough ranting. I need to decide.
